Top Moments from the 2025 Oscars
Award season has come to an end with Hollywood’s biggest night: The Oscars. We’re recapping the performances, the wins, the after-parties, and everything in between.
We did, kids. We crossed the award season finish line with Hollywood’s biggest night - The Oscars.
This year was such a whirlwind for all award shows - from a stacked Grammys roster to old tweets ruining a Lead Actress campaign, and everything in between, it’s safe to say we’ve lived 100 lives this go around.
I gave a full recap of the night on this week’s podcast episode, but let’s dive into my top moments from the night!

Demi Moore dressed in Giorgio Armani
Despite not taking home the win for Best Actress, Demi Moore did take home the award for best dressed in my opinion. I truly gasped when I saw her step foot on the red carpet and loved getting to see the dress in her front and center seat all night long.
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s opening Wicked performance
Do I need to say anything more? Whoever thought to bring The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked into this performance was truly a genius. It reminded us all that Wicked is part of the bigger picture world of Oz and how much history there is within L. Frank Baum’s world that he created.
Not only was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” the winner of Best Original Song in 1939, but seeing the growth from Ariana Grande performing this song at her One Love Manchester concert in 2017 while mourning the loss of the 22 fans who died at her show to now is such a treat.
Colman Domingo getting the crowd off their feet during a commercial break
One thing about Colman Domingo? He’s going to bring the party. I’m obsessed with this clip someone took during a commercial break of him getting the crowd up on their feet after taking a shot of tequila (my kind of guy)
Conan O’Brien hitting us with a “say, Drake” moment mid-show
As someone who famously is against straight men hosting award shows, I have to give Conan O’Brien his 10’s. He had me laughing constantly through the night and wasn’t afraid to be a little messy.
Anora coming in with a sweep, including “Best Picture” and Mikey Madison winning “Lead Actress”
I’ve said over and over how this award season was really a mix bag of winners. There wasn’t one clear winner like there had been in years past, but once Mikey Madison took home the BAFTA for Lead Actress a few weeks ago, it upped her chances big time for taking home the Oscar…and that she did!
Seeing an indie film that uplifts sex workers sweep Hollywood’s biggest night isn’t something we see ever, but I’m so grateful that we got to see it this year.
Paul Tazewell becoming the first Black man to win the Oscar for Best Costume Design for Wicked
Paul Tazewells resume is not only long, it’s iconic. Hamilton, Death Becomes Her, In the Heights, West Side Story (2021), The Wiz! Live, the list goes on, but watching him become the first Black man to win the Oscar for Best Costume Design was such an incredible moment and so beyond deserved. The way he brought the story of Wicked to life through every single costume was so impressive.
I love this interview he gave with InStyle giving us an inside look at his process - he is a creative genius.
Andrew Garfield’s heartfelt tribute to his mom and Goldie Hawn
You all know I swoon over Andrew Garfield every time he shows up anywhere, but his tribute to his mom and her love for Goldie Hawn was such a sweet moment that just made me swoon over him even harder.
Adam Sandler being Adam Sandler
Do I need to say anything more? I love a bit and nobody has ever been more committed to a bit than this guy. Plus, anyone who has Drew Barrymore’s stamp of approval, also has mine.
Oprah and Whoopi Goldberg introducing the Quincy Jones tribute
I mean, try not to say mother challenge. Having these two introduce a tribute that is rooted in “Black excellence” made so much sense, because that’s exactly what these two are. Aside from working together on Quincy and Oprah’s production of The Color Purple in 2023, the two of them looked gorgeous and continue to carry themselves with such confidence that I find so inspiring.
Queen Latifah’s performing “Ease On Down the Road” in memory of the late, great Quincy Jones, shouting out Colman Domingo and Ariana Grande dancing along
Directly following Oprah and Whoopi’s introduction, Queen Latifah took to the stage to pay homage to Quincy Jones that got Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Colman Domingo on their feet, and I now need a night out with the three of them.
I thought this tribute was so much fun and such a wonderful way to celebrate the legacy that Quincy Jones has left behind.
Bowen Yang’s Best Costume Design bit
I’m going to say it - we need Bowen Yang to host the Oscars in the next 5 years. His Best Costume Design bit with the rest of the presenters showcased his comedic timing and personality so perfectly, give this man a mic!
Zoe Saldaña becoming the first Dominican actress to win Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Perez
Last but absolutely not least, Zoe Saldaña taking home the award for Best Supporting Actress, making her not only the first Dominican actress to win this award but also the first Latina actress to win for a role that isn’t Anita in West Side Story. She has had quite the award season and I’m thrilled to see that her co-stars terrible actions didn’t disqualify herself and the rest of the film from getting awarded.
And that’s a wrap on award season! Only 61 days until the Met Gala 😅

Ariana Grande teases ‘eternal sunshine deluxe’ with Brighter Days hotline
Gird your loins - Ariana Grande is gearing up to drop the deluxe version of eternal sunshine sometime soon…and that’s all we know. She released a t-shirt on her webstore earlier this week for Brighter Days Inc., the memory erasing company she visits in the ‘we can’t be friends (wait for your love)’ music video, with a hotline on the back that shares the message: Our team will be with you shortly…stream the eternal sunshine deluxe album, coming eventually. As someone who loves the eternal sunshine album as much as I do, I am extremely ready for a continuation of this era whenever she’s ready.
Katy Perry & Gayle King are going into space with an all-female crew on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin flight this Spring
Yes, you read that right. For the first time in 62 years, women will be traveling to space without a man on board and Katy Perry and Gayle King are along for the ride! The ride will be 11 minutes long, almost enough time to listen to my personal favorite Katy Perry song, Never Really Over, three times.
Sabrina Carpenter announced second US leg of the Short n’ Sweet Tour
The tour is called “Short n’ Sweet” but it appears there’s nothing short about it! Sabrina Carpenter is coming back to the US this fall stopping in five different cities including Pittsburg, Nashville, Toronto, NY, and LA. Presale started earlier this week and it was an absolute bloodbath - as expected. When are we going to stop this dynamic pricing crisis!?
2025 BRIT Awards Recap
We need to wake up the conversation about JADE being a main pop girl…I am buying EVERYTHING she is selling. Her ‘Angel of My Dreams’ performance at the BRITS was truly one of the most incredible award show performances we’ve seen in years. I cannot stop thinking about it. She also took home the award for Pop Act of the Year, making her the first former British girl group member to win a solo award at the BRITs.
We also got a fabulous performance from Sabrina Carpenter and saw Charli xcx take home Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Dance Act. Another win for the girls and the gays!
