Why do men have so much one-sided beef with Taylor Swift!? | Popping In: Vol. 3
Why do men have so much one-sided beef with Taylor Swift!? SNL 50, Sabrina Carpenter's Netflix Special + more.
You guys don’t mind if I pop into your inbox real quick, right!?
I hope you’re all having a fabulous start to your weekend. After living in a half-packed apartment for weeks, I’m so excited to have our first official weekend in our apartment and not have to stare at empty walls/shelves (by the way, if you’re looking for movers in the NYC area, I cannot recommend Piece of Cake enough. Use code TOOPOPTOHANDLE at checkout 😉).
We chatted about the Sweat Tour, the Emmys, and Donald Tr*mp’s one-sided beef with Taylor Swift on the podcast this week, which you can listen to on Spotify and Apple Podcasts now.
Also, did you guys see the video of the 8-year-old D.I.T. (diva in training) driving herself to Target? Ms. Go-getter is lucky she only hit a mailbox…I hope the frappuccino was worth it.
But you know the drill, an hour long podcast is never enough for a professional yapper like me…so let’s chat some more.
Kicking things off with men having one-sided beef with Taylor Swift…
Zach Bryan deletes his Twitter after Taylor Swift diss-tweet
Now hear me out, I’m all for having your own opinion. I mean, I host a weekly solo-podcast where all I do is give my opinion on things…but even I know that sometimes it’s best to keep things in the group chat.
ICYMI - Zach Bryan took to Twitter last week writing “eagles > chiefs. Kanye > Taylor. who’s with me?” Well, Zach quickly learned that not many people were with him (shocker). He later took to his Instagram stories in a hilarious attempt to cover his ass by sharing Taylor deep cuts and expressing his love for her work.
"For the record guys I wasn't coming for Taylor the other night. I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.
I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong. I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often. Hope one day I can explain this to her.”
Do I think Zach Bryan hates Taylor Swift? No. Do I think it’s hilarious that he “hopes he can explain this to her”? Absolutely. Maybe Zach and his team should enroll in PR 101 with Taylor and Beyoncé because this was a total miss on their end.
SNL 50 announces their first five hosts and musical guests
Saturday Night Live is celebrating turning 50 with some big hitters coming to 8H.
Saturday, September 28th: Jean Smart + Jelly Roll. Jean Smart hosting SNL feels like a long time coming and a “dream come true” as she said on her Instagram stories. I can’t stop thinking about this tweet though.
Saturday, October 5th: Nate Bargatze + Coldplay. Love me some Coldplay, but this feels like the token "straight” pairing for the announcement.
Saturday, October 12th: Ariana Grande + Stevie Nicks. I mean, come ON! Talk about a dream team. As much as I loved Ariana as a musical guest earlier this year, I cannot wait to see her flex her comedy muscle while being serenaded by Stevie.
Saturday, October 19th: Michael Keaton + Billie Eilish. What better way to celebrate Halloweekend in Studio 8H than with Beetlejuice himself and Billie Eilish?
Saturday, November 2nd: John Mulaney + Chappell Roan. This might be the funniest and most terrifying pairing of the entire announcement. The parasocial relationship meter is going to be off the charts this weekend, but nonetheless I’ll be tuned in.
Sabrina Carpenter announces “A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter” coming to Netflix
The most wonderful time of the year is (almost) here!
Christmas just got sweeter thanks to everyone’s favorite 5’ pop star. Netflix and Sabrina Carpenter are teaming up to put the “ho” in holiday, sharing a teaser of Sabrina decking the halls in yasified Santa leotard. I can’t help but think she’s taking a playful dig a the undisputed queen of Christmas, Mariah Carey, by saying “expecting someone else?”. Of course, all in fun though.
The special will include songs from her holiday EP fruitcake, covers of our favorite holiday classics, and of course some special guests. Not only is Sabrina starring in the special, but she’s also producing it (alongside OBB Picture).
“A Nonsense Christmas” airs Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. PST / 9 p.m. EST
Halle Berry is in on the joke and wigging out
There are few things I love more than a celebrity who knows how to lean into a joke and Halle Berry is teaching a masterclass in this. Not only did she encourage fans to show up to select screenings of her new movie ‘Never Let Go’ wearing wigs to pay homage to her infamous wig from ‘The Call’, but she showed up for some of the fun!
She continues to be one of my favorite follows on Twitter.
New Music this week
Chappell Roan is also celebrating the one year
Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your weekend and make sure you tune into our most recent episode if you haven’t already!
Chat with you guys Wednesday on the pod! 💖
