Nikki Glaser Saved the Golden Globes
2025 award season is off to a fabulous start and it’s all thanks to Nikki Glaser and Demi Moore.
New year, new podcast episode! It’s been a while since I recorded in my typical podcast episode format - last week was my 2024 Recap and the week before that was my interview with Reneé Ash, so it felt great to do a full episode diving into all the pop culture hoopla that’s been going on.
Let’s dive in, shall we!?

2025 Golden Globes Recap
Award season is here and wow, are we off to an amazing start. If we learned anything from this award show, it’s that we are so far past the need for straight men to host award shows. Nikki Glaser truly taught a masterclass on hosting + comedic timing, I’m still laughing at her Keith Urban/Nicole Kidman joke.
When the Golden Globe nominations were announced I just knew it was going to be a field day on gay Twitter. Putting Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Quinta Brunson, Miley Cyrus, etc in one room!? Talk about a dream. The real star of the night was Demi Moore accepting her award for Best Female Actor in a Motion Picture - I mean, come on!
“Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress. At that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have. That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged and I bought in, and I believed that.”
Seeing someone who’s been working so hard, for so long finally get their tens is something I’ll never get sick of (RE: Miley Cyrus winning her first Grammy, Quinta Brunson winning Lead Actress in a Comedy Series , Sheryl Lee Ralph winning Supporting Actress, Jennifer Coolidge winning Supporting Actress, etc…)
I also need to point out how important it is to protect Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum at all costs.
My final thoughts on the night? Andrew Garfield.
We also yapped about…
Jay-Z has been given permission to file for dismissal in sexual assault case due to inconsistencies in the victims story. Jay-Z’s legal team must file by February 6, 2025 with the plaintiff’s response due by the end of February 2025. After this case came up late last year, I was immediately raising an eyebrow solely due to Tony Buzbee being the lawyer behind this case: immediate red flag. As I’ve been following it and seeing the inconsistencies throughout this case, I’ve started to see it as more of a smear campaign against Jay-Z. I guess we’ll see what the next few months have in store for Jay.
Nicki Minaj’s ex-manager suing her for assault and battery after she “attacked him after a Pink Friday 2 Tour show in Detroit, in April 2024". He claims that Nicki yelled at him for sending someone else to pick up one of her prescriptions. He alleges that Minaj smacked his face and slapped his wrist, knocking documents out of his hand, followed by threatening him by telling him his “life is over. Her team is saying this lawsuit was never made brought to their attention and “are confident that the matter brought by this ex assistant will be resolved swiftly”. When you think about Nicki in 2024 and the drama she got herself wrapped up in with Megan thee Stallion, this behavior isn’t too far out of left field.
Meghan Markle returns to Instagram and announces Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” which is such a joyous way to start 2025. Meghan and lifestyle content go together like peanut butter and jelly and I think this cooking show is a genius way for her to make a comeback. The show will “reimagine the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.” - sign me up!
Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster hard launch relationship with PEOPLE Magazine which is just insane to me. The lore behind these two is something I think about more often than I’d like to admit.
The TLDR is:2021: Co-star in The Music Man on Broadway, start doing press and they just can’t get enough of each other
2023: Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness file divorce after 27 years
2024: Sutton Foster and Christian Borle file for divorce after 10 years
2025: Hard launch
Of course there’s more to it but that’s the cliffnotes on the situation that has been a Roman Empire (are we still saying this?) of mine for years.
Tom Holland and Zendaya are engaged and I could not be happier. This feels like the millennial Royal Wedding and I’m proposing the entire world gets a paid day off on their wedding day because this calls for a celebration. I’ve loved watching this couple grow over the years and have this image burned into my brain forever.
And that wraps up our first episode of 2025 - here’s to another year of bringing you all the moments from the week that were Too Pop to Handle 💖
