Popping In: Vol. 2, September 15th 2024
The pop girls have given us so much in 2024 and it seems they're carrying this energy well into 2025. (Chappell Roan, Lady Gaga, + Dua Lipa)
Hello, hello, hello - what a week for pop culture! Presidential Debate, Apple Event, VMA’s, Patti Lupone on Hot Ones - my cup runneth over.
We chatted about the VMA’s, Selling Sunset, Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala, Beyoncé getting snubbed at the CMA’s, and more on this week’s podcast episode which you can find here, but the girls are feeding us this week.

If you’ve listened to a single episode of my podcast since it started or asked me what’s been on repeat since September 2023, you know I can’t get enough of Chappell Roan. The Midwest Princess sat down with Rolling Stone to chat about the whirlwind of a year that she’s had, here’s the TLDR:
Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, Hayley Williams, Katy Perry, Lorde, MUNA, Miley Cyrus, boygenius, Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, and Mitski have all reached out to her to make sure she’s okay and offered advice on how to deal with being part of “the shittiest exclusive club in the world, the club where strangers think you belong to them…”
Chappel “put labels through hell” to get them to market her music (and I bet the ones who chose not to are kicking themselves now)
My favorite takeaway is her addressing the “industry plant” allegations because, let’s be real…people throw that term around like it’s going out of style.
“Just because you don’t know someone doesn’t mean that they’re an industry plant. Did you ever consider maybe you’re just out of the loop?”
*mic drop* …The final bit I’ll share is that she has 5-6 new songs ready for her new album spanning from a country track, to a dance song, and everything in between. My main takeaway is that we’re getting a new album (eventually) and I cannot wait.

Lady Gaga is set to drop a pop album next year (!!!!)
Put your paws up, Mother Monster is gearing up to drop LG7 and it’s going to be a full pop album. Earlier this month she shared a very Tumblr 2014-esque black-and-white photo of her Vienna Film Festival itinerary on Hotel Cipriani letterhead (how chic!?) and at the very bottom it read “XX October: LG7 first single”
Needless to say, the gay panic set in quickly. Two days later it was revealed that she would be on the cover of Vogue Magazine’s October 2024 issue in a shoot inspired by Folie à Deux (more gay panic ensues).
In the article, we learned that we (the gays) her fiancé Michael Polansky our lives.
“Michael is the person who told me to make a new pop record. He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music.’”
Everybody say “thank you, Michael”. The album is set for a February 2025 release which may seem like light years away but SOMEBODY has to release next year.
